Cloud & Platform Engineerand Web Architect

Currently at Cognizant, running a platform on Azure and Databricks. I came up through enterprise backend in .NET and low-level systems in Rust and Linux, and I build high-performance websites with that same engineering head on.

Profile

I work in the band where infrastructure, backend and networking stop being separate teams. I design the platform on Azure and the pipelines on Databricks, I write the .NET services that consume that data, and when something breaks I can drop down to the network trace or the socket to work out why.

That breadth is no accident: I came out of a communications and electronics degree, spent years administering Windows servers and diagnosing networks, and I still write Rust for the pleasure of it. The result is that I diagnose whole systems rather than a single layer.

My technical judgement stays the same at every one of those levels: reproducible environments, explicit contracts, and as little magic as possible between a problem and its solution.

Domains

  1. 01

    Cloud & Platform

Reproducible infrastructure on Azure and data processing on Databricks, with continuous delivery and observability from day one.

  2. 02

    Backend Enterprise

Services in .NET and C# on SQL Server: clear data models, stable contracts and tests that survive a refactor.

  3. 03

    Web Architecture

Sites and applications in Next.js where performance, SEO and animation are designed together, not patched on at the end.

  4. 04

    Systems & Networking

Rust and Linux for whatever runs close to the metal, with formal training in communications to diagnose the network properly.
